Memorial Day 2022: Home of the Brave

Memorial Day brings new meaning to our family after the death of my father. We visited Riverside National Cemetery, where volunteers placed thousands of tiny flags to honor the men and women who gave of themselves in service to their country.

Last year I wrote a post about grieving through the anticipation of death and loss. This year, on what would have been my dad’s seventy-third birthday, I am finishing up plans for a socially distanced compliant church memorial service. Our grief journey has been a long road to loss.
