With hundreds of miles to explore, the San Gabriel Mountains offer ample opportunities for fun and adventure. One an early fall Saturday, we returned to Eaton Saddle to explore two new peaks: Mt. Disappointment and San Gabriel Peak.

Hiking the Angeles: Mt. Lowe

For a short trek up to Mt. Lowe, we start at Eaton Saddle along the Angeles Crest Highway. This hike in the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains yields lovely views of the San Gabriel Valley, and on clear days, the Pacific Ocean. In winter months, snow can be found on the trail, presenting both possible challenges as well as opportunities for snow play.
