Joshua Tree: Halls of Horrors and Cholla Gardens

In honor of Junior Ranger Day, we spent a lovely spring Saturday in Joshua Tree National Park. We explored more of the park, visiting the popular rock formation called Hall of Horrors and hiked among the interesting desert plants of the Cholla Cactus Garden.

Desert Vibes: Indio and Palm Springs

I love Indio as it is an easy two hour getaway from where we are down Interstate 10, and the World Mark Indio is a very nice resort. The kids love relaxing the lazy river or by the pool. There are also a myriad of places to explore in the vicinity of Indio and Palm Springs.

About 130 miles from Los Angeles, California where the Mojave and Colorado Deserts meet, lies Joshua Tree National Park. Joshua Tree is home to a diverse population of desert-adapted species, including the famed Joshua tree for which the park is named.
