The United Kingdom is home to 15 designated National Parks, areas of natural beauty and historic or cultural significance. Being an American National Parks lover, I was pleasantly surprised to find that while in Hampshire, we would be staying within one of the newer English national parks: New Forest National Park. At the end of this post is a bonus recipe for bread pudding.
Bryce Canyon National Park is one of Utah's 'big five' national parks located in southern Utah and is extraordinarily scenic any time of year. This post is a hike up memory lane, detailing our 2015 summer trip.
In the second of our two part Zion National Park series, we hiked the Zion's famed Narrows, wading through the refreshingly cool Virgin River.
"It is by far the grandest of all the special temples of Nature I was ever permitted to enter." - John Muir Yosemite Valley is the most visited area of the park, and for good reason. Powerful granite walls and evergreen dominate the valley landscape, with massive waterfalls cascading down imposing cliffs. Many of Yosemite's most famous landmarks are found in the Valley. Even the tunnels on Wawona Road leading in are iconic. In every direction, there is great beauty- and much exploration fun.
Less visited than the Yosemite Valley, Tuolumne Meadows is a jewel along Highway 120 on the eastern side of the park, with miles of hiking trails, domes to climb, and the pristine Tuolumne River sunning through it.
