Keukenhof
Hailed as the world’s 'most beautiful spring garden,' Keukenhof celebrates the short blooming season of bulbed spring flowers. From daffodils and hyacinths to the Netherlands’ famous tulips, Keukenhof explodes with vibrant colors and one-of-a-kind varieties of flowers throughout the month of April.
Slot Loevestein
The fourth post in our Netherlands series sends us to Slot Loevestein. This medieval castle played a role in the defense of the Dutch Waterline up through World War II. We spent the day as a family, exploring the castle and the scenic towns surrounding it, while learning about its rich history.
Delft
After a late night in Amsterdam, the Cranky Campers spend a low-key day in the historic canal city of Delft. While the summer weather thwarted some of our plans, we still had a wonderful time exploring, eating, and shopping in Delft.
Mauritshuis and Miffy
On our first full day in The Hague, we visited Mauritshuis, which houses the Royal Cabinet of Paintings. On display are over 800 works from the Dutch Golden Age of the seventeenth century. We also find a relic that sparks many happy memories from primary school days: Miffy, who is also known as Nijntje.
