With hundreds of miles to explore, the San Gabriel Mountains offer ample opportunities for fun and adventure. One an early fall Saturday, we returned to Eaton Saddle to explore two new peaks: Mt. Disappointment and San Gabriel Peak.

Hiking the Angeles: Mt. Lowe
For a short trek up to Mt. Lowe, we start at Eaton Saddle along the Angeles Crest Highway. This hike in the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains yields lovely views of the San Gabriel Valley, and on clear days, the Pacific Ocean. In winter months, snow can be found on the trail, presenting both possible challenges as well as opportunities for snow play.
Idyllwild, California
Tucked into the San Jacinto Mountains, Idyllwild, California is an idyllic retreat from the desert below. With miles of nearby hiking trails, dining, shopping, and the arts, this town offers something for everyone- including a chance to meet Mayor Max and his deputies.

LA Weekends: Hey Hollywood!
The Cranky Campers celebrate the start of the summer solstice in true LA style. We attended the second night of Noah Kahan's "We'll All Be Here Forever" set at the Hollywood Bowl, then returned to Griffith Park to hike up to the famed Hollywood sign and visit the Batcave.
