This post features two trails, both starting at Eaton Saddle: Tom Sloan Trail and Mt. Lowe Trail to Inspiration Point.

Hiking the Angeles: Mt. Lowe

For a short trek up to Mt. Lowe, we start at Eaton Saddle along the Angeles Crest Highway. This hike in the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains yields lovely views of the San Gabriel Valley, and on clear days, the Pacific Ocean. In winter months, snow can be found on the trail, presenting both possible challenges as well as opportunities for snow play.
